Why WhatsApp works better than SMS or email for reviews

Most review requests fail for one reason: the customer never sees them. Emails land in promotions, and SMS inboxes are full of bank alerts and offers. WhatsApp is different. It's where your customers already talk to you, and messages from a business they just visited get opened and answered.

When to send a review request

Within a few hours of the visit, while the experience is fresh. For a salon or clinic, that's the same evening. For a restaurant, right after the bill. For services like a car service centre, after the job is delivered. A single gentle reminder a few days later is fine; more than that starts to feel pushy.

What a good review request message looks like

  • The customer's name and your business name, so it feels personal
  • A short thank-you, not a long paragraph
  • One clear link to leave the review
  • No offers or discounts in return for a review, which Google doesn't allow

Frequently asked questions

How do I ask for a Google review on WhatsApp?

Send a short, friendly message soon after the visit with your review link in it. In Praisely, open your business, type the customer's name and number, and tap "Send from my WhatsApp". WhatsApp opens with the message ready and you just press Send.

Is it free?

Yes, sending from your own WhatsApp is free on every Praisely plan, including the free plan. It uses your phone's WhatsApp, so there's no Meta charge. Sending from your connected business number in the background is included on plans that list WhatsApp review requests, and Meta charges a small fee for each of those messages.

Can I send review requests to many customers at once?

Yes, once your WhatsApp Business number is connected. Paste a list of names and numbers or upload a CSV, up to 200 customers at a time, and Praisely sends the messages in the background and shows you each one's delivery status.

What does the customer receive?

A short thank-you message with your name and two choices: a page where AI helps them write a review from their own answers, or a direct link to write it on Google in their own words. Messages come in English and Hindi.

Can I send only to happy customers?

Ask every customer the same way. Google's rules don't allow asking only satisfied customers for reviews (called review gating), and an honest mix of reviews is more convincing to new customers anyway.

Do customers need to agree to receive messages?

Yes. Only send to customers who agreed to hear from you on WhatsApp, for example when they gave you their number at the counter. Praisely asks you to confirm this before every send, and anyone who replies STOP gets no more messages.
